ABOUT QUEST GATES
Quest Gates Carer Rights is a documentation project born from lived experience.
In the UK, approximately 5.8 million people provide unpaid care. Many navigate a maze of systems designed to obstruct rather than help.
This site documents those systems — not to complain, but to expose patterns that harm vulnerable people.
Why "Quest Gates"?
Because every step feels like a quest. Every organisation has gates — barriers that must be navigated before you can access help, support, or even basic information.
This site aims to lift those gates by documenting what lies behind them.

The Numbers
Carers providing 50+ hours of care per week receive £83.30 per week in Carer's Allowance — equivalent to £1.67 per hour.
The National Living Wage is £12.21 per hour. Carers earn less than 14% of minimum wage.
1.2 million carers live in poverty. This site documents why.
A Note on Accuracy
Many posts describe events experienced under significant distress or time pressure. While every effort is made to share experiences truthfully, some details may rely on memory and may contain minor inaccuracies.
This is lived experience, not formally verified reporting.
